Flu Vaccines:  Recommended for all individuals 6 months and older, especially for persons with compromised immune systems who would be more susceptible to the flu viruses.  We are only able to offer flu vaccines to 18 years old and older due to the fact we don’t do other vaccines for children.

Due to the fact that Tennessee tends to have a late flu season, we begin providing flu shots for older individuals and those with lung issues in mid-September.  For younger adults, we offer flu shots starting in October of each year.

For the elderly (65 years old and older) we are offering the High Dose Flu Vaccine this year.  It is proven to be even more effective in preventing flu in this age group.

Pneumonia Vaccines:  Recommended for all individuals who are 65 years and older --- this vaccine can be given year round and are available currently.

Medicare Wellness visits: Medicare pays for an annual wellness visit.  This is not a physical exam (in the old fashioned sense), but a visit to go over past medical history, current medications, risks to the patient’s health and preventative measures.  This is paid by Medicare at 100% -- no cost to the patient.

Physical Exams: Most insurance companies cover an annual physical exam (excluding Medicare) at no cost to the patient.  This will include basic laboratory testing (complete blood count, cholesterol, comprehensive metabolic panel) as well as a urine analysis, blood pressure check, weight, vision and hearing testing.  It might include an electrocardiogram if covered by your insurance.

A physical exam is an excellent way to catch potential problems before they become an issue to the patient’s health and can be scheduled at your convenience.
